PHYSICK FAMILY OVERVIEW

DR. PHILIP SYNG PHYSICK was descended from among the earliest European settlers of Philadelphia. With his marriage to Elizabeth Emlen, their children and grand children would inherit family connections to many more interesting historical personages and events.

From the surrender of New Sweden to Peter Stuyvesant, to the first propeller driven U.S. warship, from the signing of the Declaration of Independence to the cracking of the Liberty Bell, from the first human blood transfusion to the first flavored soda, from the electrical experiments with Franklin to Washington's encampment at Valley Forge, from a little house on Elfreth's Alley to the jewel of Cape May's victorian houses, Physick family history touches on five centuries of American history.

In America, the story begins with Dr. Physick's great-great-great-great grandfather, Captain Sven Skute of New Sweden in 1642.
